The 23rd NAMA Awards were held at the Harare Hippodrome, on Saturday the first of March. Running under the theme "Afrofuturism," they were graced by performances from such names as Jah Prayzah, Probeatz, Nisha Ts, Sylent Nqo, Hwinza and Atenda Chinx.

Voltz JT's N.O.P Makoni was named the Outstanding Album, a first for a Zim hip-hop project. Winky D received the People's Choice Award for a second year running, while King Kandoro also picked up his second Outstanding Comedian Award. As widely expected Killer T's "Kana Ndanyura" was awarded Song Of The Year, earning the Zimdancehall chanter his first ever NAMA Award.

One of the stories of the night was Skhanyiso Ngwenya, who carved himself a piece of history by becoming the youngest ever winner of a NAMA Award after he was named Outstanding Actor in the film category. The 9 year old played the role of Rise in the film Rise alongside Tongayi Chirisa.
