The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTAs) will be returning for their second edition on November 30, 2024 in Harare. Set to be broadcast on 3KTV, the award show will be running under the theme "Frame by Frame: Building a thriving cinematic landscape in Zimbabwe."
Organised by the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ), the award show will once again be celebrating the very in Zimbabwean tv and film. The organisers recently revealed their list of nominees for the 2024 edition.
Leading the way with 12 nominations is Neria 21, a remake of the classic film from 1991, produced by Vimbai Sinchuke. It is followed closely is 4KUS, a drug-awareness campaign packaged into a thrilling feature film which garnered 9 nominations.
A new honorary award, the Outstanding Cultural Ambassador Award, has also been introduced this year, and this will celebrate filmmakers abroad who have been a driving force in promoting Zimbabwean culture. Chipo Chung, Danai Gurira, Tongai Chirisa and Chi Mhende are the inaugural nominees.
Viewers will get to decide the People’s Choice for Best Television Production Award and the Popular Content Creator Award.
