Named after the Shona word meaning 'to braid' or 'to knit' the short fashion film is based on slow sustainable fashion pieces by Fungai Muzoroza.

Braiding has long been a part of African culture through means of hairstyling, knitting, crocheting, weaving and macrame. The film 'RUKA' celebrates these methods through each design and plays around with a mixture of cultural and modern-day inspirations and textures. It also celebrates the beauty of collaboration and cross-cultural education within Africa.

The film stars Rufaro Kasukuwere, Kuda Rice, Ethan Phiri and Fungai Muzoroza, who doubles as Creative Director. The rest of the crew included  Mordekai Musonza as Cinematographer, Samutisi as Colorist, and Lennox Makurumidze as BTS photographer, with Artlistio handling the sound.

Cannes Film Awards is a Europe-based international film festival with IMDB recognition and intermittently hosted live screenings. The festival ranks among the best film festivals for directors' first and second films.
