Announced earlier this year by music production and promotion company, Tuku Music, the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts is set to be a 2 day celebration in honour of the late music icon's legacy. In addition to celebrating Tuku's legacy, the festival will commemorate the legend's birthday, which falls on 22 September. Themed "Dairai, Sabelani, Answer!" the inaugural edition of the OMIFA will serve as a call for unity among communities in shaping their future.
Initially left out of the lineup, Selmor Mtukudzi will now be part of the proceedings, headlining the opening day alongside names like Killer T and Any Muridzo.
The festival's first day shall be kicked off with a special launch dinner before performances commence on the main stage.
Advance tickets ($10 - Saturday, $15 - Sunday, $20 Weekend Pass, $50 - VIP Dinner) for the festival are currently on sale from Pakare Paye Arts Centre, Chicken Hut outlets, Mozambik Restaurants and Magetsi.co.zw

2024 marks 5 years since the passing of Oliver Mtukudzi, yet the impact of his legacy continues to be felt. Already immortalised by his music, from a career spanning 4 decades, OMIFA will serve as an extension of this. Not only giving a platform to the artists of today but inspiring the artists of tomorrow.
Oliver Mtukudzi was not only a hero and icon to us as his family, he was loved by all of Zimbabwe and beyond. We have created the festival to become the foremost platform where people can gather, celebrate and remember him annually, on the dates around his birthday which is the 22nd of September. - Samantha Mtukudzi, OMIFA director to Music In Africa
