Imbokodo (TAPIWA & Simba remix) - An Afro tech influenced update for the anthem celebrating women

Zimbabwe DJ/producers TAPIWA & Simbai, aka Sebenza SoundSystem, collaborate for an anthemic Afro-house remix of Novuyo Seagirl's "Imbokodo." An expression of modern-day struggles and celebrating their successes, “Imbokodo” is about celebrating women who have never really been celebrated.

Originally released in 2021, the house track was a near-perfect balance of the various rhythms that define Afro-house and soulful vocals, with lulls in a rhythm that made it easy on the ear. TAPIWA and Simbai seamlessly add to this an Afro-tech undercurrent, along with crashing crescendos that firmly place the remix at the front of the current Afro-house landscape.

TAPIWA is a rising name in the Zimbabwean music scene. 2024 has seen him headline AfroBeyond, Hidden Culture's Deep End, Samuel Cosmic's Roots and KAOS, which are the 4 horsemen of Afro house on the Harare music scene. His previous singles “Within Me” and “Dancehall” received national radio support on BBC Radio 1Xtra in the UK, 5FM in South Africa, and notable and continued DJ support from Bob Sinclar and Lost Frequencies.

I remember hearing 'AEIOU' way back in high school and absolutely fell in love with Novuyo as an artist. At some point hoping I could make something with her. Fast forward a decade, I’m making a remix for her. Life is crazy - TAPIWA

Imbokodo Tapiwa & Simbai remix is now available across streaming platforms.
