In a classic case of "the first one was so good, so why not do it twice?" Zazise Media has released its second offering, Storytellers Of The Culture II. A body of work fuelled by the media organization's desire to see more collaboration in the Zimbabwean hip-hop space. The album has 23 tracks, with a run time of 1 hr 13 minutes and over 30 artists lending a hand to bring it together.
Already lauded by music fans for its production, the album has some of the industry's best beat makers: Calvinmadeit, Rayobeats, Boy Tricky, Jonn The Producer, Vl The Law, Ellz Marlonair, Tha Flamerz Entertainment, George The Martian, DaKudu, RyanFodya, ExFx, Zif, Phoenix Beats, ViperBeetz, The Curator, The Maker, Cosmos, ProGIsTheName.
I don't know how many of these I have in me but I'm most proud of this one as it feels like a testament to the work ethic within hip-hop. The fact that we had over 30 artists on the project is testimony in itself. Founded in 2020 by Mukudzei Mlambo, Zazise Media has been a platform for the celebration and chronicling of Zim hip-hop. They've been awarded Best Online Media at the Zim Hip Hop Awards twice and the album title aptly describes them as a platform, because they are true storytellers of the Zimbabwean hip-hop culture.
