Bulawayo Actor Daniel Lasker Joins Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Cast

Netflix has expanded its live-action adaptation of the popular “One Piece” manga and anime by announcing the cast for the second season. Among the new additions are several notable actors, including Bulawayo's own Daniel Lasker who made waves in 2022 by releasing Zimbabwe's 1st Sci-Fi movie titled “The Signal.”

Lasker, known for his role in “Raised by Wolves,” will take on the character of Mr. 9. “There are no words to express how honoured, and thrilled I am to join the magnificent cast of One Piece,” he shared. “I adore the world that Oda-san created and to now step into it as a character is a real dream come true.” he continued.  Joining him are Camrus Johnson from “Batwoman” as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn from “Warrior” as Miss Valentine, and David Dastmalchian, star of “Late Night With the Devil,” who will portray Mr. 3.

These characters are integral to the storyline as they are part of the notorious criminal organization, Baroque Works, featured prominently in Eiichiro Oda’s original “One Piece” manga and its extensive anime series.

In the first season, Netflix’s “One Piece” introduced Iñaki Godoy as the determined Monkey D. Luffy, aspiring to become the Pirate King. He was joined by his loyal Straw Hat crew: Mackenyu as the skilled swordsman Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as the navigator Nami, Jacob Romero as the sharpshooter Usopp, and Taz Skylar as the chef and fighter Sanji. These characters will continue their adventures in the second season, where they will face new challenges from the Baroque Works.

With the inclusion of these new actors and characters, anticipation for Season 2 of Netflix's "One Piece" continues to grow, promising to captivate fans of both the manga and the anime.
