Jimmy Donaldson better known as MrBeast, the most-subscribed YouTuber with over 200 million subscribers, has embarked on a remarkable mission to provide clean water to communities across Africa. His recent video showcases his philanthropic efforts, highlighting the construction of 100 wells, 17 of them in Zimbabwe.

MrBeast's journey began in Shurugwi, officially known as the Tongogara Rural District, where he visited the Tongogara Polyclinic. Upon arrival, he witnessed the critical need for clean water at the local hospital. He expressed, "First on the agenda was to check out a local hospital that was in dire need of clean water. Upon entering, we learned how big of an impact this clinic had on the village." When inquiring about the number of births per year, a nurse responded, "In a month... about 50." MrBeast empathetically shared how pregnant mothers had to walk over a mile to fetch water and then carry heavy buckets back. However, he delivered good news, stating, "The good news is we paid for the construction of a new modern well for them."
Moving on to Mutare in Chitora, MrBeast built another well and provided bicycles to children at a local school. He explained, "Besides ensuring access to clean water, many of the students in this village lack transportation. So we decided to give all of them new bicycles. I know it looks like a lot of kids, but we bought a lot of bikes."
In addition to these endeavours, MrBeast established 17 solar-powered wells across Zimbabwe, with the final one designed for a farming community. Speaking about the solar-powered well, he said, "This solar-powered well is specially designed to aid the farmers in this village by providing more than enough water for all of their crops and livestock, even during the dry season without any electricity." A local contractor further elaborated, stating, "Each panel is 200 watts. Then it's attached to a pump. That pump can pump 5,000 litres every hour. Basically, it's an unlimited amount of water for this entire village."
Despite similarities to his previous philanthropic efforts, the 25-year-old American YouTuber expressed on X (formerly Twitter) that he feared "getting cancelled" because of the video, "I already know I’m gonna get cancelled because I uploaded a video helping people, and to be 100% clear, I don’t care. I’m always going to use my channel to help people and try to inspire my audience to do the same."
MrBeast's video also encouraged viewers to support his charity, Beast Philanthropy, which focuses on providing clean water to communities worldwide. On the charity's donation page, it emphasizes, "Clean water is something everyone needs to survive." The page states that Beast Philanthropy is committed to funding and building water wells to provide clean and safe drinking water to tens of thousands worldwide.
The initiative aims to construct 100 wells in Cameroon, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, benefitting an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 people with access to clean water. The donation page concludes with an appeal: "Together we have the resources to help make a major dent in this issue and make sure families, kids, and communities have fresh water to drink, clean their homes and clothes, cook their food, and sustain their farms and livestock."
