Takudzwa TKay Maidza Secures First Grammy Nomination with Assistance from Babyface for 'Girls Night Out'

Zimbabwean-born musician TKay Maidza, now based in the United States, has achieved a significant milestone with her first Grammy nomination. The recognition comes for her contributions to Babyface's album, 'Girls Night Out,' which has been nominated in the Best R&B Album category at the 2024 Grammy Awards alongside other contenders such as Coco Jones with 'What I Didn't Tell You (Deluxe),' Emily King's 'Special Occasion,' Victoria Monét's 'JAGUAR II,' and Summer Walker's 'CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE EP.'

TKay Maidza now joins an esteemed list of Zimbabwe-born artists and producers who have garnered acclaim from the Grammys, a group that includes Brian Soko and Alexandra Shungudzo Govere.

Tkay Maidza features on 'Girls Night Out' track 12 titled 'G Wagon,' where she collaborates with Sevyn Streeter. The album, known for its all-female lineup features prominent names from R&B's new generation, including Ari Lennox, Muni Long, Kehlani, Queen Naija, and fellow nominee Coco Jones. 'Girls Night Out' earned praise for its cohesive body of work under Babyface's mentorship. Notably, Babyface allowed female artists to take the spotlight, resulting in a harmonious blend of their individual styles.

TKay Maidza, had a recent interview with Grammy.com, discussing the creative process behind her second studio album, 'Sweet Justice.' Released on November 3, 2023, under the labels 4AD and Dew Process.

Hopefully, this Grammy nomination opens the floodgates to more Grammy Awards for her individual work specifically the just released 'Sweet Justice.'
