The Skeyi and Strobo Fabrik Party (SS Fabrik Party), an event that has become a hub for fashion, music and urban culture, will be hosting its 8th edition this coming weekend. Titled the "Fabrikans Convention", the latest edition will, for the first time, be hosted over 3 days at Alliance Française in Harare.

Running from 27 to 29 October, the event will feature workshops, a streetwear market, art, and photography exhibitions, fashion showcases, and music. According to organizers, the expansion of the event was done to accommodate each art form on the showcase and give it its deserved time. Friday will be dedicated to workshops, with music and interactive activities taking centre stage on Saturday and the fashion shows dominating the event on Sunday.
In the build-up to the event, organizers announced a partnership with Pacific Cigarette Company on their Designers Marathon. The top 5 designers of the contest were Fungai Muzoroza, Nobunaga, Jaxx, Ray Enders and Rori, who each won funding for materials to design pieces to showcase at the Fabrik Party on Sunday. The overall winner of the contest will receive USD 500, and a deal for designing merch for PPC.
In the build to the latest edition of the Fabrik Party, they also hosted city-to-city activations, an expansion program launched to activate subculture creative communities in four Zimbabwean cities. The aim was to promote street art, streetwear, fashion, and alternative music, which are under-represented in these areas.
This expansion project was funded by the Zimbabwe German Society and it'll see new brands from the 4 cities (Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Victoria Falls, Gweru) showcasing their work at Alliance Française: Mitchelle Butau, Tashinga Chigombe, StreetZecho podcast and Muzi Gumbo.

The Skeyi & Strobo Fabrik Party is a creative art platform that was launched as a public event in 2020. The name is inspired by oxen yoke, a commonly used tool in Zimbabwe. The words can be traced to the South African Dutch words skei (shoulder yoke for cattle) and strop (twisted string made from softened cowhide). The event collaborates with renowned creative organizations such as Calligraphy, Baobab Media, Vigorous Youth, Urban Militant, and food and beverage company Koovah.
