Isaac Mabaya, the 18-year-old Academy prospect at Liverpool, has signed a new contract with the club. Mabaya recently made headlines after turning down the opportunity to play for Zimbabwe in favour of representing England under-18s. The versatile player caught the eye of Jürgen Klopp during last summer's pre-season tour of Asia and training camp in Austria.

Mabaya's versatility has been a key factor in his success at Liverpool. Although he is primarily employed as an attacking option from right-back, he is also capable of playing in midfield. The young player joined Liverpool's Academy at the age of six and made his breakthrough with the U18 team at the age of 16. He has since been a regular starter for the under-18s and has also featured for the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League.
Mabaya has made great strides in recent months, and his hard work has paid off with a new contract at Liverpool. He had suffered a frustrating early-season injury that slowed his progress but is now fully fit and eager to continue his upward curve with the Reds.
According to the Herald, Mabaya holds British nationality and is eligible to switch allegiance to Zimbabwe in the future. However, his parents' native country was pursuing him to play for their national team, but he has since turned down the offer. Mabaya's father explained that playing for Zimbabwe would be too complicated due to passport and citizenship issues. Nevertheless, Mabaya has remained in touch with his Zimbabwean roots and has been involved in charity work in the country, donating football uniforms to schools in the Hurungwe Central constituency.
