Fears of dancehall losing grip on the Zimbabwean music scene have been topical in recent years. The biggest talking point is whether the riddim culture is the soul of the genre. To date, the Bodyslam riddim released a decade ago is still widely acknowledged as the peak of dancehall in the country. In efforts to revive the popular culture, Michael Murumbi, the producer for the riddim popularly known as PTK, has returned to Zimbabwe following a sabbatical in SA to work with various artists on the second edition of Bodyslam.

The historic Riddim production is on record as the most subscribed when it comes to airplay and the number of artists featured back in the day. The recent snippets being circulated on social media feature a new crop of dancehall talent. The likes of Blot, Silent Killer, Poptain, and others have made their entries which have likewise sent tongues wagging.
If the future of ZimDancehall is to be debated, our take is that this genre is easily floating into immortality as it has been the major disruptive element when it comes to propelling urban youth voices and movements.
We hope the return of Bodyslam will revive this beloved culture! Enjoy the 50-track Bodyslam Part 2 Below
