The Zimbabwean Power Forward adds another piece of hardware to her trophy collection.
Earlier this month, Zimbabwean-born, Poland-based Basketball superstar Stephanie Mavunga and team BC Polkowice defeated VBW Arka Gdynia and won the Polish Super Cup trophy for the second time in history. The team won 80:66 with Mavunga scoring 29 points for the current Polish champions.
Mavunga was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the match, the second time she’s been honoured to go along with a regular-season MVP award from earlier this year.
Although Stephanie Mavunga is still waiting for her Polish passport, the 27-year-old player extended her contract to play in the number 23 jersey with the Polish team BC Polkowice earlier this year and also made her debut in the Polish national team which saw the team win a friendly tournament in Athens in June.
Stephanie Mavunga made history in 2018 by becoming the first Zimbabwean-born player to be drafted by the WNBA as she was drafted by Indiana in the second round and the 14th overall pick of the 2018 draft. She since left the WNBA league in the US as a free agent to pursue a career in Poland after a short stint in Russia.
