Sha Sha has finally issued a statement addressing the Victoria Falls Carnival fiasco that occurred at the end of last month. The artist had been scheduled to perform alongside DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small on Friday the 29th of April which was the opening night of the carnival but all 3 were a no show.
Days after the festival event organizers issued a statement demanding that the three artists refund the payment that they had received. According to them Sha Sha, DJ Maphorisa, and Kabza De Small had been fully paid for their performance with hotels and air tickets paid for too. Upon being approached for comment by The Herald, Khaya Defero (Now Sha Sha's former management) revealed that they had parted ways with the artist in March.
Khaya Defero has been working with ShaSha for approximately eight years and she has become family. We were actually her legal guardian during the early stages of her career... Unfortunately, we can’t comment as this booking was handled by Lawk in South Africa. From March 5, 2022, Khaya Defero and ShaSha officially commenced terminating the management engagement. It was a process.
In Sha Sha's statement released today, she apologized to friends, fans, and the event organizers for not showing up. She shared that the recent months have been a turbulent time in her environment but also spoke of exciting things to come. The artist stated that her team and event organizers were working together to come up with a plan to make it up to fans.
The statement was Sha Sha's first social media post in over 2 months and it comes as the first public comment from either of the 3 artists on the Victoria Falls Carnival no-show.
Looking forward to seeing you all ❤️
