Paya Paya follows in the footsteps of songs like Nzenza as ExQ continues to shine a light on misogynistic societal standards that affect women. The song's lyrics talk about how age is just a number and love can be found anywhere. This is about how society sees older women and single mothers. The video for the song directed by Blaqs features an opening scene where ExQ's mother (Played by Dhafu) is castigating him for bringing home an older woman (Often called the derogatory term mvana) as his potential wife.
This scene juxtaposed with the lyrics of the song makes for the perfect storytelling and serves to strengthen ExQ's message of positivity when it comes to the relationships between men and women. The song is produced by Dj Tamuka and it has the catchy vibe which we've come to expect from ExQ's music.
