Cymplex revives ZimDancehall with Xool Of Thots Riddim

Cymplex is a celebrated producer from the city of Gweru. His biggest competitors the likes of Oskid and Tamuka also hail from the same town. You are not alone, we too wonder what they feed kids in that city, but in no doubt, Zimbabwe embraces its rhythm.

Cymplex has produced several hits including Jah Signal’s classic Sweetie, and Freeman’s Pombi. The youthful producer who is in his early 20s has already bagged accolades and boasts of versatility which has seen him produce chart-topping gospel, afro-pop and even Jit singles. On the dancehall scene, his work has attracted international acts like the legendary Turbulence on More Entertainment Riddim.

Xool of Thots is a conscious riddim that was packaged by the producer himself and features big names such as Nox, Jah Signal, Queen Khadija, Ras Caleb, Terry Afrika and Nicky Vibes. The compilation exudes seriousness when it comes to the lyrical content of the positive message. This is the nature of conscious music needless to say. Xool Of Thots is like a cleansing to the genre which has been stained with dirty lyricism and entertainment without substance. On the riddim are songs of love, drug abuse and motivation.

The riddim culture has been fading with several artists growing out of thought it remains fundamental. This also comes with pro-business socialites interrupting the creative process by personifying their egos in these instrumentals.

Usually, riddims are the biggest platforms where new talent shines and on this one Clatoh Fyah emerges as the victor with his song Shanda catapulting to the Star FM’s Dancehall Remedy top 10.

Xool Of Thots has a medley on YouTube. Check it out via the link below and give us feedback in the comment section.
