Canada-based Zimbabwean Rapper Charmaine was awarded the Juno Award for Rap Single of the Year 2022 for her debut single Bold at the recently held Juno Awards hosted by the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu.
The ceremony held at Budweiser Stage — a covered, outdoor venue in Toronto, Canada was the first in-person Junos show since the 2020 ceremony was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic and pivoted to a virtual event.

The award was presented alongside a new category for Rap Album or EP of the Year which went to another female rapper Haviah Mighty for her album titled Stock Exchange.
Until 2022, albums and individual songs were considered together under the single Rap Recording of the Year category. The changes were announced as Juno Awards celebrates its half-century milestone coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Juno rap category which was launched in 1991.
The award ceremony was held on Sunday, May 15th. Other multiple Juno winners included The Weeknd who took the songwriter of the year award for the third time, and contemporary R&B recording of the year for “Take My Breath” and Shawn Mendes, who won the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award and the International Achievement Award.And the winner for Rap Single of the Year Presented by @ADVANCEMusicCA is…
