Billie Eilish is currently touring her sophomore album Happier Than Ever across North America, and this past weekend she's been joined by a very special guest: Zimbabwean born, Australia based Takudzwa "Tkay" Maidza.

Tkay Maidza explained to Australia Broadcasting Corporation that she got the last-minute call-up to support Billie - at dates in Atlanta, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Philadelphia - after other scheduled performers had to pull out due to COVID.
"We were asked the day before Atlanta if we could do it. I had to fly out midnight that night to play," Tkay says.
Interestingly, Tkay's and the 20-year-old pop sensation Billie Eilish got a bit of shared history "I’ve known her for four years, we have so many mutual friends. I started following her, she followed me back immediately. I'm like 'omg you're the best'. She's 'omg YOU'RE the best"
They got a chance to meet in 2019. "I went to watch her show in Melbourne when she came to Australia last time. And it was almost like ‘Hey best friend that I haven’t seen in like three years!’," says Tkay.
"Also her drummer was my old drummer when I was touring the US five years ago. A lot of her team is intertwined and I know them somehow. So yeah, it’s been really cool because it’s almost full circle."
"I’m honestly really proud of her and it’s crazy that she literally is who she is and I’m able to play a show with her. It’s so unreal and I’m really grateful.”
