Cook Off is a 2017 Zimbabwean romantic comedy film written and directed by Tomas Brickhill. Set in the contemporary middle-class society of Harare, the film stars Tendaiishe Chitima, Fungai Majaya and Tehn Diamond.
Shaina
Released in 2020, the Zimbabwean film Shaina is based on the leading character named Shine played by Wilmah Munemera, a teenager in Zimbabwe who has a knack for making something out of nothing and could have a promising future as an engineer, except for the fact that she doesn’t believe in herself.
When she and her best friends Faro played by Tadiwanashe Tsitsi Marowa, Stella played by Gamu Mukwakwami and Busi played by Tarumbidzwa Chirume are faced with a host of grown-up problems – loss of loved ones, overdue exam fees and the curse of “blessers” – they come close to giving up.
Their story is one of forgiveness and friendship, of creating a new family from the people who love you, and of the very real power to be found in girls supporting girls. It’s a story about resilience.
Florida Man
A Jazzman’s Blues
A Jazzman's Blues is a 2022 American drama film written, produced and directed by Tyler Perry starring Zimbabwe-born, Seattle-raised actress Solea Pfeiffer. Spanning more than 40 years, “A Jazzman’s Blues” tells the story of Leanne (Pfeiffer) and Bayou (Joshua Boone) falling in love in 1947 Georgia. However, after Leanne’s family forbids their relationship, the couple split. When they cross paths again several years later, Bayou is a singing and dancing sensation, while Leanne is married to another man. Their passion for each other still runs deep, though, and they soon decide to rekindle their romance and run away together.
The Witcher
The Witcher is a fantasy drama television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as "the Continent". British-Zimbabwean actress Mimi Khayisa plays Fringilla Vigo on the show.

Locke & Key is a 2020 American fantasy horror drama television series developed by Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill, and Aron Eli Coleite, based on the comic-book series of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel RodrÃguez. British-Zimbabwean director Mark Tonderai directed several episodes of the second season of the show.
Erax
Erax is a fantasy short film principally for kids, it is about monstrous creatures that leap from a magical storybook and unleash mayhem and mischief for Auntie Opal and her tween niece Nina in this spooky short film. The film stars Jasmine Cephas Jones and Genesis White. Bongani Mlambo was the cinematographer on the project and it was his first Netflix original.

Sex Education
Sex Education is a British comedy-drama streaming television series created by Laurie Nunn for Netflix. The series depicts the lives of the students, staff, and parents of the fictitious Moordale Secondary School as they contend with dilemmas in their personal lives, often related to sexual intimacy. Season 3 of Sex Education is directed by Zimbabwean director Runyararo Mapfumo alongside Ben Taylor. She has directing credits on episodes 4, 6, 7 and 8.
Blackout
Blackout is a sci-fi film directed by Andrew Reid, starring Sibongile Mlambo as Stephanie Tyler - an astronaut who finds herself battling for command, facing unknown forces intended to destroy her while on a routine mission.
Bridgerton
Bridgerton is a period piece. The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. Inspired by Julia Quinn's bestselling novels. British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page stars in the first season of the show.

Munya Chawawa plays Choronzon - an anthropomorphic demon with pink skin and two mouths who goes head-to-head with Morpheus during his quest. Vanesu Samunyai plays Rose Walker – a young woman on a desperate search for her missing brother, who finds a family she didn't know that she had, and a connection to Dream that neither of them can escape.
The film is about Ryan Gosling’s brooding Agent Six, who is rehabilitated as a spy to work for an elite unit in tandem with the CIA. Six discovers he might be killing someone innocent during one job, then stops to gather the pieces and manages to uncover the dirty secrets of the top guys. In the film, Regererai "Regé-Jean" Page plays the character of the CIA Chief Denny Carmichael who is involved in several covert missions and coverups that impact world politics and is answerable to no one.
Teen Wolf is the story of how an animal bite turns a high schooler into a werewolf whose newfound supernatural abilities make him a star athlete – and majorly complicate his life. Sibongile Mlambo plays Tamora Monroe, who is part of a group of werewolf hunters introduced in Teen Wolf and she works as the new high school humanities teacher/guidance counsellor in Season 6.
Black Sails is an American historical adventure television series set on New Providence Island and written to be a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island. Sibongile Mlambo plays Eme, who is a slave aboard the Andromache. She is chained up behind Mr. Scott. After she is freed, she becomes a barmaid at the Tavern in Nassau, as well as a spy for the Maroons.
The Anthrax Attacks
The Anthrax Attacks starring Zimbabwean actor Tongayi Chirisa revisits the FBI’s investigation of the late Dr. Bruce Ivins, who was allegedly behind the mail bioterrorism attacks following the events of September 11, 2001.

Can You See Us takes inspiration from the life of John Chiti, a Zambian singer and songwriter who overcame remarkable odds. Born albino in rural Zambia, Chiti's early life was marred by familial discord and superstitions surrounding his condition. However, his journey from adversity to acclaim is nothing short of inspiring.
Zimbabwean filmmaker Denise Edwards took on the role of Assistant Director for this cinematic masterpiece, showcasing her remarkable talent. She also played the role of a radio presenter and is not alone in representing Zimbabwean talent in this film. Jodie Tanaka Masimba, another Zimbabwean talent, graces the screen as Nyambe, the School Bully, in this gripping narrative.
Encounters
Netflix released an intriguing four-part Documentary about Zimbabwe UFO sightings, titled 'Encounters,' The very first episode titled, 'Believers,' takes viewers back to September 16, 1994, an unforgettable day etched in the memory of 62 former Ariel School students from Ruwa, Zimbabwe who claimed to have been bestowed with an extraordinary experience and were witness to strange spaceships and encountered mysterious, humanoid figures right in their own schoolyard. The young students were aged between 6 and 12. This extraordinary event is hailed as one of the most significant UFO occurrences of the 20th century.
Riding with Sugar
Sunu Gonera is a Zimbabwean film director who juxtaposes the polished appeal of box-office hits with what he describes as the “realness and rawness of Africa”. He recently hogged the limelight with a movie about Family and identity titled "Riding with Sugar" which debuted on Netflix in late November 2020 and is now streaming in Africa, South America and the Middle East. The film's storyline is about a young Zimbabwean refugee Joshua whose dreams crashed into reality after witnessing his parents being killed during a conflict.
