Munya Chawawa previously won the "Online" category at the JOE Comedy Awards in 2020. He was also crowned the "Legend Of Lockdown" earlier this year, at the Chortle Awards. He was also nominated for "Personality of the Year" at the GRM Daily Awards.
Chawawa's satire comedy clips on Instagram and Tik Tok propelled him to fame during the Covid-19 lockdown period in the UK. He then expanded to tv show hosting, writing and performing comedy shows for various British media channels.
Channel 4 announced The National Comedy Awards last year but the ceremony got delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The results of the National Comedy Awards will be based purely on a public vote, and feature categories such as 'Best Scripted Comedy Series', 'Best Stand Up Tour' and 'Best Comedy Podcast'.
The award show will be held on 15th December 2021 at the iconic Roundhouse in London.
