Joy Rukanzakanza or JØY as she's known in music circles is here with her latest single, "Queendom". The track comes as the third single from the artist's upcoming debut album "Matter More For Sis" and it brings promise of an amazing project. After releasing Roses and New Day which features Kid X, it seems the latest track might be the best one yet. Joy delivers a blend of RnB, hiphop and Afrobeats. The various sounds meet together in this burgeoning cauldron of music.
Queendom is upbeat with trap vibes and a distinctly African feel. Joy delivers an amazing vocal performance, accompanied with compelling lyricism. In it's first 24 hours of release, Queendom was playlisted on 4 official Apple Music playlists. It was featured on Future Hits, Best New Music, African Hip-Hop, New Music Daily and Tun Up Playlists. It just might be the first Zimbabwean song to do so.
Speaking on the song Joy wrote:
Queendom is a song that implores women to be the best versions of themselves. It is meant to empower them and give them courage whatever the circumstance. I felt the need to write this song last year during a time when there was an unprecedented rise in domestic violence cases and we were all locked down because of the pandemic. A lot of women in my country Zimbabwe and surrounding countries like South Africa were succumbing to domestic abuse which in some cases was fatal. Queendom is also a part of my upcoming debut album MATTER-MORE-FOR-SIS.
The song was released with beautiful and compelling visuals directed by Twinner. Queendom is definitely one song to watch out for on the charts and Joy's upcoming debut album is set to be something special.
What a song 🔥🔥
