Gonarezhou: The Movie, might have missed out on scooping the Best Narrative Award but two of its lead actors came out on top. Tendai Chitima was awarded the Best Lead Actress Award while Eddie Sandifolo walked away with the Rising Star Award. This brings to three, the awards that the film won after the film was awarded Best First Feature Narrative at the Pan African Film Festival. Out of the five nominations the film has earned it has taken home and this is a testament to the work that was put into it.

In a comment the team behind the film wrote:
Although the movie itself did not get the award, we are totally proud of two main actors from the movie who received the awards. Best Lead Actress and The Rising Star Awards for Tendai Chitima and Eddie Sandifolo respectively.
The film was screened on Saturday evening which was the film's third screening at an international festival. It has been shown at the Pan African Film Festival, the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival and now the I Will Tell Film Festival. The latest awards come as Tendai Chitima and Eddie Sandifolo's third such honours as they have both won the Best Actor/Actress awards at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival and the National Arts Merit Awards Outstanding Actor/Actress.
