Poptain pays homage to the sound that put Zimbabwean music on the map with his latest single titled “Before” - a melodic track about starting anew. For the song, Poptain courageously steps out of the friendzone and narrates the story as a guy who promises a woman who has been in one too many unsuccessful relationships, to do better than all the exes. He opens the first verse with the following lyrics
The truth is I love you
But I cannot promise to tell you things
You never heard before of course yes I love you
And I promise I’m not like whoever you were with before
The song was produced by Mega T, one of the very first producers to recognize Poptain's musical gifts. He is credited for helping develop the artist's sound and style that we are all familiar with today. Simdoc films directed the visuals.
Released on the 14th of May, Poptain has been busy in the streets of Harare promoting the single, literally "begging" people to stream and download
