Adrian Dzvuke has been on one hella of a ride since he broke out a few years ago and he continues to cement himself with every single he drops. The latest track "Take your time" is no different. It is set to be the lead single from his upcoming debut EP and if it's anything to go by we're in for one hell of a project from Adrian. In a pandemic-riddled 2020, the 24 year old RnB singer still managed to enjoy festival slots, sold out launch shows, Song of the Year Award wins and even a statewide tour alongside stars San Cisco and in 2021 he doesn't seem to be stopping.
In his latest release Dzvuke pivots from his previous Afro-infused style while maintaining his trademark bounce and charm, setting the scene for an upcoming EP that seeks to show a different side to the Zimbabwe-born vocalist: “I want to make whatever I want to make because I feel like making it”.
With this change of direction, Dzvuke is stepping forward to show that black artists can not just participate in the indie and pop worlds, but thrive in them. Take Your Time is just this, with Dzvuke penning a carefree indie-R&B number that floats as much as it does bounce; an instant head bopper filled with swaining melodies, layered gospel-like harmonies and a silky smooth chorus.
Take Your Time arrives as the second release of 2021 for Adrian, following the funk-filled collaboration with Supathick, July. A track which landed in the Top 10 on Brazil’s iTunes R&B/Soul Charts, received Spotify and VEVO Editorial playlist love, and has garnered the eye of tastemakers triple J. This of course arrives after a string of sizzling singles, including the MTV-featured Feelin’ Myself and multi-award winning Bad Like Ri Ri. With these tracks helping Dzvuke amass almost a million streams online, it’s easy to see why Pilerats has dubbed 2021 as ‘The Year of Dzvuke’.
As usual of the artist's high standards, the song is a harmonious orchestra of sound. It's well worked in all parts and it has a mellow tempo that sinks right into the soul. If you doubt us, have a listen to "Take your time" for yourself:
