From the rising music hub that is Cottage 47 to Asaph, Msiz'kay and now the duo of Boy Nino and Lord Edward, Bulawayo is shaking the tables of the Zimhiphop landscape. Boy Nino & Lord Edward's recently dropped Ndiwe Wega is set to be the first single from their upcoming joint project Blunts and Roses. An Extended Play (EP) that's set to be released in the coming months and if the single is anything to go by then we're set for an amazing project.
The track titled Ndiwe Wega which means "it's only you" in Shona is a love song that combines RnB and Rap influences for the perfect balance in a track. Lord Edward serenades us with soft vocals on the chorus with lyrics that blend English and vernac with an easy smoothness. Boy Nino comes through on his verse with an edginess and well timed lyrics, juxtaposed to the calm temperament of the beat and Edward's smooth vocals it's just what the track needed. I'm not sure who did the production work or the mixing & mastering but it's an exceptional quality of work.
The visuals feature scenic rooftop shots and a few in the wild which a polar opposites of each other but somehow come together. The video feels how a song titled "it's only you" should. Hats off to SIMDOC's directive work on this one. I can wait to listen to what Blunts and Roses EP has to offer.
