ZIMA 2021 |
The 9th Edition of the Zimbabwe Music Awards has been successfully held. This virtual edition had more than 30 categories with over 1200 submissions from artists across various sectors. The presentation had an exceptional group of presenters, the best the country has to offer. Poptain, Nutty O and Jah Master led with the highest nominations at the #PPCZIMA2021 Awards.
As highlighted in our nomations piece which talked about some noteable omissions such as Jah Prayzah, Takura and Winky D. The aforementioned artists released bodies of work which kept the masses entertained in 2020. However the night turned out eventful and interesting. Mzoe 7 won Best Kwaito which was a well deserved win. The Cool Crooners won the Lifetime Achievement Award, they were also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 by SkyzMetro Radio Station. Blaqs was recognized as the best videographer. Mufudzi wemombe by Trevor Dongo and Feli Nandi winning the best video.
Shasha walked away with Best International Zimbabwean Artist award. Which is very fitting take after she bagged a BET award in 2020.
