The Zimbabwean, United Kingdom based viral comedy star Munya Chawawa announced that he signed with Atlantic Records on social media saying he is ‘cracking open the Shloer’ to celebrate. ‘I’ve signed to Atlantic Records!’ he said, posting on Twitter. ‘Two years of sketches, one Fire in the Booth and a few middle class bars later and here we are! Thank you for supporting my parodies & sharing my sketches.’
Atlantic Records is the home to notable musicians including Meek Mill, Stormzy, Ty Dolla Sign, Bruno Mars and Cardi B.
Chawawa has developed a plethora of nuanced personalities from the infamous newsreader, Barty Crease who inked a deal with Netflix a few weeks ago, to the UK's first posh drill rapper - Unknown P who just inked a recording deal with Atlantic Records and chef Jamie Oliver's 'Caribbean cousin' Johnny Oliver. His satirical and self-produced videos have led to an impressive roster of characters and many viral moments.
"We’ve done Netflix, we’ve done Atlantic - now just the TV show to go! QVC here I come. Thank you everyone." Chawawa said in a statement
Congratulations!
