December comes as the second single from Ishan's upcoming Bhundu Pop EP. The EP is set for release on November 27 and it features a total of 9 tracks. This is set to be Ishan's first full length project since he abandoned Zim-dancehall and chose Afro-fusion as his genre of choice. From the success of his breakout hit Kure and the remix that followed it, along with how Maidei the first single of the EP has been well received they're big expectations for Bhundu Pop.
The video for December begins with various people sharing what they think is love with especial relation to our mothers. There's King Masey who's a rapper and a visual artist and Dreal Nova a music artist. The opening scenes mirror the confessional segments of a reality tv series. December carries a calm sound that features a mixture of instruments that give it an authentically Zimbabwean sound. It speaks on memories of/from December and these are memories of his mother which hold a special place in him. The song is a homecoming journey.
GZE opens his verse with, "Zvinonzi kusina mai hakuendwe zvozonzi kura uone because life is a journey." It's wordplay and lyricism that remains consistent throughout his verse and he lets everyone know why he deserved to be featured on this track. The video tells the exact story in the lyrics and it's great directive work by Visuals by Prosper. The production credits go to Dj Chrxn and from singles like this I'm excited about the EP.
