Brian Nhira paid tribute to Pharrell with his blind audition version of the smash hit "Happy" which led to him winning a spot on coach Pharrell's team in NBC's The Voice 2016. The son of a traveling church minister whose parents moved to the United States from Zimbabwe to pursue educational opportunities, Brian started singing in church and has been back in Zimbabwe on several mission trips. After high school, he went to Oral Roberts University and was a worship leader there, but he has since launched a career as an indie pop solo artist and has played almost 400 events.
Brian said to have auditioned for "The Voice" not only to fulfill his dream but also to honor his parents. He started singing when he was 4 years old, and the first song he performed was "Jesus Loves Me."
