Getty Images Wants To Pay Instagram Users US$10,000 for Photographic Coverage of Communities Around The World

Getty Images is rolling out a remarkable new initiative to increase photographic coverage and awareness of what it deems to be socially important but underrepresented communities around the world, and it has chosen to do that through Instagram. The two companies announced a joint grant
program which would have Instagram users each submit 10-20 images that portray stories not normally seen in mainstream media, from which Getty would select finalists who would then be judged by a panel. Three winners would then receive $10,000 USD each in funding, as well as mentorship by Getty staff photographers and their works featured in the Photoville exhibition in New York this fall. Get your images in by June 4th, and anticipate the winners to be announced in September.
