Named after the birthplace of both her mother and grandmother, Harare brand is a New York based designer womenswear label, founded in 2013 by Caroline Fuss. Harare’s dynamic cultural heritage is woven into the brand just as much as the fabrics themselves.
Debuting at 2014 Fashion Week, the brand had an artistic story to tell. Delving into the work of abstract expressionists, Caroline Fuss took notes from Rothko and Frankenthaler Diebenkorn while focusing on the “depth, distinctiveness and silent communication of fashion” for her fall/winter 2014 collection. Fuss is an Australian designer who moved to New York to intern for Proenza Schouler. She ended up creating her own brand that label prides itself on paying homage and celebrating indigenous artisan culture from around the world. Make sure to visit the Harare site to keep up.
